Housing and moving

Planning is a very important part of moving. We say that something well planned is halfway to being completed. The municipal housing offices provide assistance for young immigrants in finding a new home.

Start searching for an apartment from the Municipal Housing Office. Ask about available apartments and submit your application to the housing clerk. Fill in your application well, include justifications, your housing requirements and all required documentation. Please also remember to inform of any possible changes in information provided in the application, as it could be vital information for acquiring housing.

The waiting list for municipal housing may be rather long, so it is possible
that you will not be given housing immediately. However, the housing office will give you advice and details of other places to help you continue your search for a place to stay.

Informing change of address

When you make a permanent move from one address to another, or even if your temporary residence at another address has a duration in excess of three months, a change of address form should always be completed and submitted to the District Registry Office. The notification of move shall according to the law, be submitted at the latest one week following the change of address. If you require, the same notification may be used for the population information register maintained by the district registry office, as well as for the Post Office. When you submit the notification in good time, you can ensure that your post is delivered to the correct address.

The easiest way to give notification of a move is to call the Move Service Line 0200 71000 (local call charge/mobile charge). Service also in English.
