Multicultural and international work in Tornio youth services

Tornio youth services work actively in order to get the young thinking about the world and people within it.

Due to it's location, Tornio enables the movement and participation across two countries and two languages. Tornio and Haparanda are called "the twin city". The Finnish and Swedish youth services work together to improve international youth work on the area, especially with Äxön-nights which are held in both countries, and youth councils from both cities also work together.
Tornio youth services has a long history of international Youth in action - youth exchanges, which are partly funded by Finnish national agency for education (former CIMO)

Tornio is an international city. Lapland university of Applied Sciences attracts international exchange students which brings different kind of livelihood to the city and to students life. Tornio youth services offer spaces and youth houses for youth groups that need a place to hang out.

Youth services host get-togethers called 'International café' in Taukotupa on Thursdays and all women and girls are warmly welcome.
